Email 2nd March 2011

Dear All,

For a bit of fun this year we are looking to organise a Wooden Rackets competition in aid of Comic Relief on Saturday 19th March 2011. We did this a few years ago and it was a great success, everyone who took part really enjoyed the event. For those of you that can remember what it was like to play with wooden rackets, it will be just like the good old days or perhaps not. For those of you that haven’t ever used wooden rackets it should be good for you to experience what it feels like to play without the latest racket technology. You will be surprised at how easily you adapt to playing with a wooden racket, and a racket head which is half the size of today’s modern squash rackets.

Choosing the right squash racket? (Updated) Print E-mail

It’s been said that your squash racket is like an extension of you arm, so you can see why it is so important to find the right squash racket that suits your style of play, or is it?

When you buy a squash racket for the first time you may not be thinking of the weight, balance, head size, strings and grip. But then again should you? As long as the racket looks and feels good, to you personally then the chances are that you will probably play well with it, for a while at least. However, as you improve all these factors may help you to decide which racket best suites your playing style.

On Thursday 15th July I attended the above AGM representing Arun LC, held at Olympos, Burgess Hill.

It was a well attended meeting with most of the Sussex clubs represented; followed by the opportunity to finalise fixtures with the other secretaries. The main points discussed are listed below:

Sussex teams have had a reasonable season with the seniors coming 4th in the Premier League, and the Sussex U13 team coming 3rd in the national finals.
